Start by Learning Figure Drawing
Figure drawing might seem difficult, but it’s actually crucial for anyone who is interested in designing their own clothes. You’ll have lots of ideas, but you’ll need to get them down on paper to see if they actually work well. To do this, you’ll need to be able to draw someone to wear your clothes. Start by learning how to draw figures so you can draw your own figures and add on your clothes to see how they’ll look.

Start Designing Clothes You Want to Wear
Once you can draw figures, you can start drawing your clothing. Sketch out the basic design, then add in all of the details to see how it really looks on paper instead of just in your head. You’ll likely need to draw at least a few different sketches to adjust as your idea evolves. However, this gives you the chance to really see how your design looks and whether it’s a good idea or if there’s something you might want to change.
